Episode 174 of the podcast features an overview of the astrology of October 2018, with Kelly Surtees, Austin Coppock, and Chris Brennan.
Most of the forecast focuses on Venus stationing retrograde in Scorpio early in the month, and the symbolism surrounding that transit.
At the top of the show we discuss the pricing of astrological consultations, and specifically how the price of a consultation can sometimes be a red flag if it is being overvalued.
Later in the episode we discuss some of the underlying significations of Mars, and what relationship it has to the topic of sex and sexuality alongside Venus.
Finally, we also highlight one auspicious electional chart this month, which can be used for beginning a new venture or undertaking.

I think Venus in Scorpio hold her cards very close to her vest. I also think of Scorpio being very still water – to the point of stagnant – especially with a retrograde there. I wonder too if Venus retro in Scorpio can bring a certain numbing of emotions – waiting for a change – an outer prompt to dispel and inner paralysis. And OK – y’all – Mars is Passion, not Venus. No Mars, no sex – just sayin’.
Just want to mention that the Magic I’s 2019 astrological planner for the northern hemisphere uses Pacific Standard Time rather than Eastern Standard Time. As this is very unusual, I wanted to point it out for other viewers. As a math-challenged U.S. East Coast person, that’s a non-starter for me, alas.
Just wanted to point out….The planner is absolutely amazing, there’s nothing like it anywhere. Looks likes so much has gone into this. What a beautiful planner/book and captures multi times zones!
Love love love the magical look and the content is inspiring, purchased mine already! keep-sake!
Really Suberb podcast. Magic balance of personality and character. Technically very helpful and precise. Perceptive imagery and not shying or blushing from the nitty gritty (I was though!!) I’m so inspired, thank you very very much…
I just listened to this today and was mesmerized. I was born under Venus Rx. I ended my engagement on Friday 28th and got my IUD removed on the 1st. Back in nov 2010 I made the major choice of quitting my hormonal BC for good which subsequently led to my pregnancy the following February. However this time around I am not in a relationship. So I am very curious about the difference and especially about the surprise ending to this Rx. Emotionally speaking I’m not mourning the engagement. I’m actually relieved.
Cecile, Mars went direct at that time. Mars will sever what it needs to, take action, be brave. Maybe the introspection of the Venus retrograde will have you thinking about just that, that it was good to cut loose from intimate relationship. I see Scorpio being very intimate and of course, all about sex. 8 years ago my life was very different so this 8 year Venus cycle leaves me wondering. Again, whole chart and transits have to be considered. Best Wishes to you.
On a political and social US agenda… Rise of the Matriarchy..ME TOO movement, the Kavanaugh election, and upcoming November elections.. Women are rising as a result of the consciousness and fight for sexual survivor’s voice…
Venus is unifying the people. So much division in this country and the women will unite the people…Good talk..

Austin,
Research article was released today that goes deep with “poo” just as you predicted. Researchers at Oxford are studying parasites from medieval latrines to unlock secrets of human history.

Having Venus Scorpio natally. – always a little defensive when the discussion of it being in Detriment begins : always talk of it correlating to awful aesthetics – & so on!
But – LOVED this discussion – bravo!
Several thots hastily jotted… :
Think of Scorpio (Mars) as what happens right after Libra (Venus): Libra establishes Relationship – & Scorpio is what happens once you’re really in one! & so – likewise for the 7th & 8th Houses – remembering your previous Episode on which Sign/ House ‘Rules’ Sex…
W/ Venus Scorp I definitely have been oriented towards issues of control – & I think *testing* how true peoples’ love is. I have always been keenly aware of – & struggled w/ – the kind of paradox of Scorpio wanting deeply to merge completely – but because of these very Watery depths, feeling the need to Defend itself very powerfully (the shell & the mushy innards – like Cancer – & Pisces the MuableWater just throws shiny scale illusions & flits from your grasp)
…If you know how to resolve this – please let me know! : )
True! Scorpio also correlates to Elimination! Not recalled as often as other associations… Speaking of the alchemical & matter – I’m reminded the glyph for Virgo is an M of ‘Matter Perfected’ – & the discriminating & separating function of the digestive intestines
– & Scorpio’s is an M of ‘Matter Penetrated’ (tho’ I cannot remember where I heard this about the ‘M”s…I mean – why Ms??)
…Or – Virgo has an M w/ its’ legs crossed – & Scorpio an M w/ an erection! (Haha.)
(Virgo has Analysis – but Scorpio has Intellect – *&* Intuition…)
Where then does this put Libra (between those) in the process? The Balance of the kidneys??
A book called ‘The Monster Show’ by David J. Skal elucidates the social history of the Horror genre. He discusses how it is not quite entirely psychologically cathartic – but inclines toward it…Quite a good study.
Think of Taurus (Venus) as the earthy Fields – & Scorpio (Mars, & the Opposite / Complimentary) – as the Seed that penetrates it! Scorpio being the same generating Life principal (Mars) that Aries (first / birth sign) is – but Hibernating as of MidAutumn…So – the Seasonal aspects of the Taurus-Scorpio Axis… Whereas the Aries-Libra version of the Mars-Venus opposition correlates to being Single & being a Couple, respectively? Just blue-skying here…
So I was taught that Taurus (Venus) correlates to Sensuality (Taurus = the senses) – & Scorpio to Sexuality (the sex organs).
Absolutely love the Thai Restaurant analogy!! Overall – it’s a Venusian setting. ‘A little Yang goes a long way!’
…but perhaps the debate about whether Sex is ‘under’ Venus or Mars was trying too hard too long? Couldn’t we say Venus correlates to Attraction – & Mars to (Sex) Drive? I have heard that testosterone is responsible for sex drive even in women?
…& Pluto is Desire – no ? ; )
Gratified Kelly finally came up w/ the word ‘penetrating’ – as I think Penetration is a great Scorpio word! The ‘penetrating gaze’ of Scorp is always recalled – & I like that it has immediate sexual associations – as well as being appropriate for Scorpio’s mental orientation to mysteries & the nature of the universe – & emotions too….
