Venus in Astrology: Meaning and Significations

Venus in Astrology: Meaning and Significations

In episode 315 astrologer Becca Tarnas joins the show to talk about the meaning of Venus in astrology, and how ancient and modern astrologers conceptualized it.

Venus is traditionally thought to signify things like beauty, love, relationships, desire, sensuality, romance, harmony, pleasure, art, marriage, and other topics.

This is the fourth installment in our series on each of the planets, where we do a deep dive into their meaning in astrology.

We anchored the discussion by reading through a series of excerpts about Venus from different ancient and modern astrologers, including Vettius Valens, Abu Ma’shar, William Lilly, Reinhold Ebertin, Steven Forrest, and Richard Tarnas.

We then used these passages as jumping off points for an extended discussion about some of the deeper meanings of Venus, and the role that it plays in birth chart interpretation.

I have Saturn in Capricorn 7th house and Venus in Pisces in the 10th. My husband and I have lived both separately and together in our 43 years of marriage. Currently together since 2nd Saturn Teturn.

  • Hi Chris,
    Love listening to your podcasts!
Would be great if there was a podcast on unaspected luminaries.
Becca Tarnas made a comment that when she was born her Father was concerned at Becca having an unaspected Sun, until he bought midpoints into it.
I have an unaspected Pisces Sun and Aquarius Moon…..no aspect to any planet. Christian Borup’s Astrologer has said that with an unaspected Sun….letting someone in is a big step, it takes a long time to get close to someone with an unaspected Sun (very true of me) don’t want help from anyone (very true of me) there is so much more he wrote. I actually don’t see any problem with anyone who has no aspects to their Natal Sun, I see it as a positive. The Sun does eventually make aspects to transits and progressions.
As for my Unaspected Moon (conjunct my Chiron & IC) I have not found notes on this but, again, I care deeply for others and it makes aspects to transits and as it progresses.
Love your work and have on my to do list, your course on Hellenistic Astrology, after listening to your Podcast on it!
