Neptune in Astrology: Meaning and Significations

Neptune in Astrology: Meaning and Significations

In episode 326 astrologer Laura Nalbandian joins the show to talk about the meaning of the planet Neptune in astrology, and what it signifies in a birth chart.

In astrology Neptune is generally said to signify illusions, mysticism, escapism, spiritualism, confusion, romanticism, the blurring of boundaries, extreme sensitivity, compassion, and transcendent experiences.

Neptune is one of the more recently discovered outer planets, having only been discovered in 1846, although astrologers have figured out its meanings pretty well after nearly two centuries of working with it.

This is part of a series of episodes where we do a deep-dive into the meanings of each of the planets in astrology, by reading some excerpts from different astrologers to see how they have talked about the planet in the past, and then using that as a jumping off point for discussion.

Laura is organizing two astrology conferences happening in Seattle and Denver in May and August of 2022, and you can find out more information here:

  • Nice episode. I would say the astrological Neptune has a propensity for some of the things described – rather than simply a desire for them. This is based on a variety of personal experiences and the probable fact no ,6 (?) Year old child desires a ‘kundalini’ awakening as was mentioned on today’s episode… (I have the Sun in fall conjunct Neptune – 1 degree 3 seconds – with Pisces rising)

Also, confusion can be neurological component with a biological basis (documented dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia and dyscacula 1994). The research I found on this topic seemed to indicate that erratic gamma spectrum functioning (in the brain) creates an internally unstable perceptual processing environment both in terms of how the brain makes use of sensory input and the ease with which internal awareness can be communicated both verbally or mechanically, as with writing. Perhaps, without experiencing these factors they are not as readily considered…

  • Thank you so much for this episode. I have a Venus/Neptune conjunction in the 1st house, with Jupiter, all in Scorpio. Venus is opposing Saturn in the 7th and bringing Neptune in as well. I also have a 12th house Libra stellium (Sun, Mars, Mercury and Uranus). This particular episode showed the positives of Neptune in such a beautiful way. I do feel spirituality is a huge piece for me because boundaries with people are hard for me even when I’m working on it. It becomes much easier with spirituality. Thank you again for all the positive potentials of Neptune.
