Astrology Forecast and Elections for December 2015

Astrology Forecast and Elections for December 2015In episode 55 Austin Coppock and Kelly Surtees join the show to discuss the astrology forecast for the upcoming month of December 2015.

During the course of the show we cover topics such as the Saturn-Neptune square, the reactivation of the Uranus-Pluto square, a great deal of mutable placements, and more.

We also start the show by talking about some early examples of people having Saturn returns in Sagittarius, first with Shia LeBeouf, and then with Ronda Rousey.

I also introduce some auspicious electional charts for different dates during the month of December, largely focusing on the first half of the month, where the good elections seem to be more plentiful.

This episode was recorded live in front of an audience of our Patreon supporters through our monthly webinar format, and both and audio as well as a video recording of the episode is available below.

The cover art for this episode is taken from the PlanetWatcher 2015 Astrological Calendar, which is produced by New York City-based astrologer Kirk Kahn.

Below you will find an outline of some of the different topics that we touched on during the course of the show, followed by links to download or stream the recording.

News and Announcements

  • Kelly will be visiting Australia and doing a 2-day intensive on planetary movement in the chart Sydney in January. You can find out more information about the intensive on her website.
  • Austin is releasing the recordings of some live classes that he has been teaching all year, and they are on sale through the end of November on his website AustinCoppock.com.

Episode Synopsis / Topics Covered

Early Saturn Return in Sagittarius Examples

Other Saturn in Sagittarius News

Uranus-Pluto Hijinks!

  • Mercury into Capricorn, other than for a brief visit into Aquarius in early January, Mercury is in Capricorn until mid February.

Auspicious Electional Dates and Charts

  • General note: decent elections in the first half of December, but I’ve got nothing really for the second half.
  • December 3 at 4:10 p.m., with 5° Gemini rising. Mercury is the ruler of the Ascendant, and it is placed in Sagittarius in the 7th house, applying to a square with Jupiter in Virgo in the 4th. Both planets are in their signs of their “detriment” or “exile,” but they are arguably strengthened through the mutual reception, and Jupiter is also made more benefic as a result of this being a day chart. The Moon is in Virgo in the 4th house, applying to a square with Mercury, with reception, followed closely by a conjunction with Jupiter. Saturn is in the 7th along with the Sun and Mercury, which has the potential to provide some challenges related to partnerships, but since it is a day chart these should be surmountable in the long run. Just make sure that whatever you are electing is initiated prior to sunset, otherwise the placement of Saturn will become much more problematic.
    • Alternative on December 1 at same time with Moon in Leo.
  • December 3 at 12:30 p.m. with 12° Pisces rising. Jupiter is the ruler of the Ascendant, and it is located in Virgo in the 7th house, with Mercury ruling the 7th and applying to a square with Jupiter from Sagittarius in the 10th. While this chart is similar to the Gemini rising chart from later in the same day, it has much more of a 10th house focus due to the presence of Mercury, the Sun, and Saturn there, and thus it is more suitable for initiating actions that have to do with one’s career or reputation.
  • December 14 at 9:55 a.m. with 2° Aquarius rising. Saturn is the ruler of the Ascendant, and it is placed in Sagittarius in the 11th whole sign house, in a day chart along with the Sun. The Moon is in early Aquarius in the 1st, applying to a sextile with Saturn. The 11th house emphasis would make this chart useful for working with friends or groups, especially in order to organize or structure matters pertaining to finances, with Jupiter ruling the 11th and placed in the 8th. There are potential problems in terms of travel or foreign affairs though with Mars in the 9th by day.
  • December 21 at 11:30 a.m. with mid-Pisces rising. Jupiter ruling the Ascendant, placed in Virgo in the 7th house, along with Mercury in Capricorn in the 11th and applying to a trine with Jupiter. The Moon is exalted in Taurus and applying to trines with Mercury and Jupiter. This chart combines some of the themes of the previous elections by emphasizing partnership and friendship, although it has more serious drawbacks than the others due to an applying square between Mercury and Mars. As a result of this I would heavily favor the elections from earlier in the month over this one.

  • hmmm, talking about the astrology of the Paris shootings of 130 people is in bad taste, while doing so of a million+ refugees is ok?

You probably didn’t mean to, but the beginning of your podcast came off sounding a bit hypocritical. You start off by mentioning having predicted the refugee crisis in your previous shows, and then 5 minutes later say how it irks you when astrologers talk about having predicted stuff?

You then say how the people of Paris are living through this, and it is bad taste to talk to about people’s problems, as it is not considerate of their feelings. What makes French lives and feelings more valuable than those of Syrian refugees?

Don’t you think it is offensive and disrespectful using the suffering of refugees to hold them up as the poster children of the Neptune Saturn square? Even talking about the Neptune Saturn square at all is the epitome of White People Problems.

Journalism is never the problem. Reporting in real-time is never a “disservice”. It is the principle role of the reporter to make sense in the midst of confusion. Many astrologers have journalistic backgrounds and approaches; you don’t. To each their own.

But while Journalism is never the problem, bias is. When one set of people is deemed more worthy of a certain type of treatment in the press than another, that is a much bigger problem then people analyzing the charts of the heavens after a major event on their blog.

  • What I find hypocritical is this emotional dictatorship we see more and more.

“You have to cry, you have to feel ashamed, you have to feel guilty, for all the bad stuff in the world. If you don’t, you are heartless.”

Of course the terrorist attack in Paris is shocking. Of course this immigration crisis is so sad.

We all know that, thank you, but astrologers are not the one who have carpet bombed these countries and aren’t responsible for all this mess.

  • I have concluded long ago that geopolitical crisis events are all planned in advance by the astronomer/ priest class., who never let an opportunity go to waste. The fast thinkers have always provided an answer before anyone has even thought of the question. Our comprehension of the 12 zodiacal Archons or beings that have created and set the stage for our inner development, is a lifetime endeavor. Any overlay of political correctness in sharing a conversation delving into the manifesting results of planetary combinations is authoritarian and dicatorial, leading to further degeneration and imprisonment. I would encourage more podcasts from a geopolitical point of view, starting with Putin’s natal chart, rather than the less useful information of Shia Lebuff, Madonna, and assorted checkout aisle icons.

  • I like the idea of the geopolitical point of view. I too think the country’s leader’s chart analysis would be fascinating – but in a way, any time we analyze we are removed – it is a way to distance our selves through the rational and perhaps that is what is offensive or as Austin said, is in bad taste; the emotional aloofness through the calculation of events as if it is a review of a chess game. I also think that there is a respectful period of mourning and that there should be a space of time before these things are reviewed in this public way, totally agree. Having said that, astrology cannot be removed from life. The migration crisis has been on going and I feel it is fair game to have a commentary about this from the perspective of astrology. Why is this racist? If there were a long term migration of the French for example, it would be also be commented on. Any analysis could be seen as in poor taste if the argument is taken to the extreme. No one’s misery should be capitalized upon or dehumanized through reporting or analysis, and I think this is what Austin was putting forth in his comment.

    • Putin’s chart tells the story, and must be looked at.
America has been bombing civilian villages and destroying infrastructure while air-dropping supplies to IS for a year before Putin spoke at the UN in November, asking the US if they realized what they had done by creating the forced exodus . He then began a 10 day precision air campaign that has eliminated IS as well as identifying the miles long convoy of stolen oil being delivered to Erdogan and members of the G20 , unveiling the hypocrisy and deception of the White House. Soon after 850,000 refugees turned around and went back to Syria.
I didn’t think I was going to like this Saturn square Neptune transit, but my hair is blown back by it.
I also never expected to witness hero/king leadership in my lifetime that is the stuff of history.
There is more to learn from Putin’s chart right now than Madonna’s. Are we incapable of looking at the big picture while being consumed with celebrity and arguing over which astrological techniques
      are to be ordained?
      Human Design, anyone?

  • Please do the show on the planets in clothes. Visuals are so good for learning – a picture is worth a 1,000 words. Loving the soldier in the tutu.

    • Yes, that would be entertaining !

Another great way to understand planets is to look in movies. For example, the movie Gladiator is another great Mars analogy (of course).

We have the hero : Russell Crowe (Aries with Mars in Aries). And the bad guy : Joaquin Phoenix (Scorpio with Mars in Scorpio).

The Scorpio even stings Aries and kiss him prior to their finale fight :

  • Thanks for a another great podcast! I have learned a lot by listening to you, Kelly and Austin and look forward to the Forecast and Electional podcast every month. Keep up the good work!

  • Kudos on another great podcast! Very informative and entertaining. The balance between examining geopolitics/world trends and easily researched celebrities to whom everyone can apply astrological principles and learn is great.

You advise that there aren’t any really great December elections after mid-month. For those of us with a Saturn in Sag/Jupiter in Virgo pileup of things that have to get done reasonably well, could you please advise whether there will be any good elections in early January?

    Thanks so much.

  • As for Mars in Libra being like a soldier in a tutu, though, hmmm! A lot of generals have Sun or Mars in Libra! Strategy, strategy, strategy!
And they have some pretty intense uniforms with a lot of hardware!

  • Great insight by Austin about Saturn eating his children connecting to Saturn’s resistance to finishing a work (can’t recall the exact wording, listened awhile back). I’m thinking that could be Saturn in Capricorn, with Saturn in Aquarius analogous to him castrating Uranus, his father. Or more likely it would be in their respective detriments or falls. Saturn in Libra inadvertently creates Venus from the combination of the castration-products falling through the air to the ocean foam.
